We are your expert local guides and story-stitchers. We are also island history and World Heritage tour specialists. With so many fascinating layers of history we have a multitude of truly amazing stories to tell you. It goes without saying, we have a deep love for our island home, its culture, history, nature, and way of life.

Our family has strong ties with the Bounty mutineers and their Polynesian partners. We are 8th generation islanders and our passion for our awesome island and its curious heritage will surely enrich your island experience. So pack your Spirit of Adventure and come explore our island home with us as we journey from its fiery emergence, through to its mysterious Polynesian settlement, European colonisation and an horrific convict past, to the arrival of the pious Pitcairners’ in 1856 before finally immersing ourselves in living local culture and a relaxed, laid-back contemporary Pacific island life.

Island Explorer Tours - with Rachel Nebauer

Our little island family is proud to announce the arrival of our new touring venture and really look forward to showing you around and sharing our island stories with you.

There is a big boxful of activities and a bucket-load of annual events to enhance your island holiday. Foundation Day in March and Bounty Day in June are special days for the islanders - both days are great for lovers of history, heritage, and culture. We have music festivals (think Jazz or Country Music) and a ukulele festival; as well as heaps of sporting tournaments and outdoor activities, art & photography trips, and a food festival in November. Think beautiful beaches and long summer holidays. Or lovely quiet mild winter getaways.

Aalehau Island Explorer Tours is not in the business of ruining people’s holidays. Everything we do is done with a generosity of spirit. We do our very best at all times to make your time with us a happy and rewarding one. We feel we offer a very reasonable cancellation and refund policy. We like to be treated fairly and we expect you do too. We understand there are sometimes unforeseen circumstances. Our cancellation policy is simple - with fair notice and good cause we will happily refund your money.

We generally require twenty-four (24) hours notice when cancelling tour bookings (particularly for those tours where there is a catering cost involved). In accordance with industry standards we also have a no-show no-refund policy.

In the same spirit of fairness our tours are designed to run with minimal numbers so that no-one misses out – sometimes it costs us to run the tour but our policy remains that we are not in the habit of ruining holidays. Please note that during busier periods our tours tend to fill quickly so we recommend you book with us prior to your arrival to avoid missing out.

With the very best of intentions and the best planning sometimes unforeseen circumstances arise which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to change tour dates times and inclusions where necessary and cancel tours in the event of inclement weather or hold events indoors when necessary. We are sincere in using our best endeavours to find a suitable solution. We always try to re-schedule but in the event that a tour is cancelled alternative arrangements may be offered and where no alternative is available (or suitable) we offer a full refund.

All tour prices are in Australian dollars and are subject to change without notice.

Please note our group booking refund policy is that if you have booked a tour with 10 or more people we require fair cancellation notice that means that cancelling with less than 30 days’ notice from your tour start date will incur a 50% cancellation fee and less than 14 days’ notice from your tour start date will incur a 100% cancellation fee. All group cancellations must be submitted in writing. We think this is fair and we hope you understand.
