Located on Norfolk Island’s southern coastline, Hundred Acres Reserve protects a patch of coastal forest and offers one of the island’s most tranquil walks. The trail winds through white oaks, Norfolk pines and Moreton Bay fig trees before emerging at Rocky Point – a clifftop lookout with sweeping ocean views.
Keep your eyes peeled for birdlife: white terns nest here during summer, while wedge-tailed shearwaters and other seabirds are often seen skimming the waves or circling overhead. At Rocky Point, once home to a WWII observation post, you’ll have front-row views of Phillip Island across the water.
This is a favourite walk among locals for good reason – it’s peaceful, scenic, and a little wild around the edges.

A huge species known for their buttressed root systems – near the entrance and inside the reserve.

There are shaded tables within the reserve, but no food outlets nearby – pack lunch and take your time.
