Norfolk Island Golf Club

Golf with a view, and a story beneath your feet

Norfolk Island Golf Club is one of the South Pacific’s most scenic and historically rich courses. Located within the Kingston UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s one of the few golf courses in the world set within a listed heritage area, surrounded by convict-era ruins and sweeping ocean views.

The 9-hole course was established in the early 1900s, with the club formally founded in 1927. It plays as a traditional open links-style course, where kikuyu grass fairways meet coastal breezes for a challenging, sea-swept round. To complete 18 holes, players tee off from alternate tees for the second nine.

The convict-built clubhouse and Pro Shop occupy a sandstone building constructed in 1843, once home to the island’s Stipendiary Magistrate. Today, it houses a licensed bar and café serving light lunches, snacks and coffee.

The club hosts a full calendar of tournaments each year, welcoming golfers from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Visitors with official handicaps are invited to join weekly club competitions and enjoy a hit with the locals.

Social play is available most times, excluding Wednesday and Saturday afternoons (except during tournaments). No booking is required for casual rounds, though visitors needing a motorised buggy or hire clubs are encouraged to call ahead to confirm availability.

For those planning a golfing holiday, the club offers a weekly pass with unlimited play for seven days (subject to availability).

Whether you’re here to compete, unwind or soak in the views, Norfolk Island Golf Club brings together sport, heritage and hospitality in one unforgettable round.
