Card Players Aim for Bridgehead on Norfolk Island

If jazz fans, book lovers, boot scooters and scrabble players can find an excuse to make an annual pilgrimage to Norfolk Island, so too will bridge players if the island's bridge club has its way.

In fact the club has set up not one but two Bounty Bridge Festivals to appeal to the legions of bridge lovers who like to travel to satisfy their love of the game.

Scheduled to take place from July 22-29 and December 6-13, the festivals will offer a welcome dinner, social bridge sessions, morning or afternoon tea, a range of trophies and a farewell presentation dinner for an all-up registration fee of $295.

Also available are special seven-day Bounty Bridge Festival packages that include return airfares, pre-paid taxes, twin share accommodation, car hire and return airport transfers from $974* ex Brisbane and $1038* ex Sydney.

"Bridge has really caught on here as it has everywhere else, and we would like to issue a warm welcome to Australian and New Zealand bridge players who would like to mix social bridge playing with a relaxing stopover on our beautiful island," said Norfolk Island Tourism General Manager Steve McInnes.

To book the package or enter the draw for a free return air ticket from Brisbane or Sydney contact The Travel Centre, Norfolk Island, phone toll free 1800 1400 66, fax 0015 6723 23205 or email lee@travelcentre.nf.

Further information on the Bounty Bridge Festival package can be found at www.travelcentre.nf and on Norfolk Island at www.norfolkisland.nf.
